Original Founders

Webshots has been in business since 1995. The company began as a retail photo screensaver company, empowering computer owners to customize generic blank desktops with colorful photo wallpapers and screensavers. Within a few years, Webshots had become the largest public photo sharing site, with over a million photos uploaded per day at its peak.

As photo sharing has evolved over the years, Webshots has evolved as well. Today we’re happy to introduce Smile, the latest evolution in photo management.

Many of us have hundreds, if not thousands, of photos stored in multiple places and on multiple devices. It’s time-consuming for all of us to get our family’s photos organized into one place, and it’s even harder to share them with one another.

With Smile, we hope to change all of that. We’ve made it easy to: 1) create a single permanent library for all your photos, and 2) allow you to share photos instantly with your closest friends and family. We hope you’ll let us know what you think.
